Frequently asked questions

What is Hello Chicks?

Hello Chicks is an Android app that helps Indian layer-farm owners and workers keep daily records of eggs, feed, birds and sales, and use them to see production, feed cost and who owes money.

Is Hello Chicks available to download?

Not yet for general use. It is in a pilot for farms with about 4,000 to 10,000 birds. You can ask to join the pilot on the pilot page.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes. Daily records are saved on the phone first and sync later when a connection is available.

Which farms is it built for?

Commercial layer farms in India, starting with 4,000 to 10,000 birds, with one or more sheds and flocks. It is not built for broilers or backyard flocks in this pilot.

Which languages does it support?

English and one regional language chosen for the pilot cluster. More languages depend on the pilot results.

Does the app diagnose bird diseases?

No. It shows changes in your own records, such as a drop in egg production, and suggests what to inspect. Diagnosis and treatment remain with your poultry adviser or veterinarian.

Can workers use it without seeing my money?

Yes. Workers record collections, mortality and feed. Buyer balances and amounts are hidden from them by default and are available to the owner.

Who owns my data?

You do. Records are used to run your account. Using data to improve the app is a separate choice that is off by default and can be withdrawn. You can export your records at any time.

Does it handle payments from buyers?

It records sales, part payments and balances so you can see what is due. It does not process payments or move money.

Does it count eggs with the camera?

No. Camera egg counting is a separate research idea and is not part of the app.

How much does it cost?

Pricing has not been decided yet. This page will be updated when it is.
